THE LOVESPHERIANS, in the 5th year of their Spherical Journey, are in deep sleep (suspended Japanimation) and are experiencing dreams of archetypal themes from deep within the collective unconscious.
LOVESPHERE V: EURYDICE is a polyphonic and perhaps polyphemic parallel narrative that gives the real scoop on the so-called "Orpheus" myth, which, like most of our myths, has been twisted from a matriarchal to a partiarchal framework.
Presented in 5 days at 4 venues, this Gesamtkunstwerk includes over a hundred artists, including musicians, sculptors, actors, directors, costume designers, dancers, and weirdos.
Each day of Lovesphere V: Eurydice will examine a different stage in the goings-wrong of the Eurydice-Orpheus relationship. From their tumultuous meeting on March 17th at ABC No Rio, we travel across the River Styx (East River) to Hades (Brooklyn) where Eurydice has taken things over, to the consternation of Hades. We will see on March 18th and 19th what really went down when Hades let Eurydice alone of all beings leave Hades, and how Orpheus Blew it-- or did Eurydice not want to go? On the 20th, we will find Orpheus crying in his beer back in the real world, and all are invited to commiserate with their own sad songs. Finally, on March 21st, we will watch in stunned horror as Orpheus is dismembered by a horde of New York's most amazing female improvisers.
