Back in 1997
The Museum of Sound Recording had a space in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
It was packed to the rafters with vintage analog recording equipment.
Dan Gaydos, the founder, has an insatiable desire to
preserve and conserve these historic, irreplaceable machines.
Other people need to make room for the newest digital replacement.
He was doing something called
Sessions Nights,
where he would record musicians with the equipment equivalent
to a 1960's major recording studio, but in a cafe setting.
LoveSphere was recorded on a 16 track machine.
The Museum was set up as a collective,
but nothing really got done without Dan.
That space was lost, and all the equipment is now in storage.
