On the Southeast
corner of Broad and
McKean in front of the old PSFS Bank
there seemed to be a
somber convergence
of old timers.
They were dressed in these
outrageously silly costumes
but their mood appeared
sad and a bit angry. |

This guy gave me the
feeling of incredible sadness.
He seemed frozen to the stone wall in front of the old
PSFS bank.
It was very cold that morning and I saw him standing
stock still
like this for an hour before the parade started.
I am guessing
that these are the folks who are here out of
Tradition.
They are the ones who remember the
Glory Days of the Comics,
before the
Regimentation
took over.
The
parade officials have regimented the Comics
into what I understand
the Comics think of as a
Forced Early Morning Death March up Broad St.
They say there are
More Cops than spectators
for most of the two and a half mile trek
to the reviewing stands
at City Hall. And even there the bleachers are
half empty for the Comics' performances.
I
understand that the fun still happens on "Two Street" after the parade.
