Multi-Gambira
Made c. 1992 and constantly modifide since then,
this is the latest of the gambiras.

It is modular and various absurd appendages can be
attached to it's resonating box for a variety of effects.
It has resonating plates made out of tin on its top and bottom,

and is equipped with a contact mic for amplification.

The tongs attached to it's side in the left photo are
high carbon steel flat wire that is used in plumbers snakes.
It is pretty much the gambira of choice lately,
the one that I most often take to gigs,
as it is compact and versatile.

Michael Stewart playing the multigambira,
which here has its drone strings attached,
with a bow and a mallet
during the Williamsburg Sessions.

COMMENTS:

You Freako! This is something that inspires me and impresses!I come the world of the left-hand, so I end up having to build lots of instruments to suit my methods of musical deconstruction. But what you're up to is absolutely beautiful. Music says so much to so many different people, it's REALLY good to see the results of what it does to them...Have Joy!
