The cops knew about the demonstration in advance.
An armada of police vehicles lined Avenue B at least two hours before the event.
They were prepared with riot gear but wisely did not crash
the party until we danced for an hour or so.

The tripod sitters and a couple of other were arrested.
One woman appeared to be in pain from the way that she was carried
with her hands tied behind her back.
But for the most part they seemed to be trying to clear
the street without being too nasty.

This woman with the green umbrella may have been trying to get arrested
but she seemed to be invisible to the cops.
The cops behind her are carting away the tripod poles

A wall of cops lined the street.

Police vehicles including a large riot truck (not pictured)
extended 6 blocks down Avenue A to Houston Street.
The horses remained in their wagons.
