It was incredibly strange to drive on asphalt again. I was very used to driving wherever I wanted at whatever speed.

And then Van Glorious had Breakdown #2. It's a real joy futzing with an engine and gas line in desert high noon heat. We got a ride to the nearest town (Nixon, NV), and it turned out we were on an Indian reservation so only certain tow companies could pick us up.

But AAA came to the rescue as usual, and AAA+ brought us all the way to Reno. Thankfully I had a patient passenger. Besides, the tow to Reno saved us lots of gas money, and I have to say it was nice to be chauffeured in a flatbed truck with a way better stereo than Van Glorious.
