sent me this great rare photo from Comics past. It amazes me that they
have such serious expressions on their faces, expressions seemingly
more appropriate for men being sent off to war. It is hard to tell whether
their faces are painted with metallic pigment or burnt cork. l lean
towards metallic pigment.
If you have any information for June. I will forward it to her.

Hello,
My grandfather, Joseph Prettyman, was a comic in the mummers parade
around or before the 1920's. He was my dad's father. My mom always told
us that she had a photo somewhere of our grandfather from one of the
parades. We have just discovered this photo. It is my grandfather with
two other men dressed as clowns or women. They each have some type of
badge or medal hanging from a ribbon pinned on their costumes. I would
appreciate any information that anyone may have as to the year, or the
comic division that my grandfather belonged to. Is there some type of
record book with lists of members?
My father and his parents lived in South Philadelphia at Second and
Wolf Sts in the 20's. He is the man seated on the left. Thank you for
your time.
