How do I hear the audio on my PC?

The audio is in streaming MP3 format, also known as Shoutcast. It should work fine over a dialup connection. You do need a program to play it though, for PC I'd recommend using the program Winamp. It's a quick and painless and free download, I think you can go with the smaller version but I'm not 100% sure about that. Other options are the new version of RealPlayer (version 7.0+) and I've heard even Quicktime 4.1 can do it, though I've never been able to get it working.

Once you have one of those programs installed, just click the PLAY AUDIO link. You might get a "choose application" dialog box, and if you do just save the file (called Wrybread-Radio.pls) to your harddrive, then click it from there.

How do I hear the audio on my Mac?

For Mac I think the best program is MacCast, though I think they only give you a limited demo, which is too bad. But it should still work. Once you install the program, choose "open location" or "play location" (I'm not sure which) then paste in the numbers http://216.32.166.87:19420.

Other programs that might work are the new version of Real Player, and Quicktime, though I've never used either of those. If someone could write up some instructions for Mac, please email them to me.

I can hear the audio, but there's up to a 3 minute delay....

You need to decrease your prebuffer. The prebuffer exists to preload the content so you don't get dropouts. But if you're on a good connection you shouldn't need much of a prebuffer. Note that RealPlayer will give you like a 3 minute delay unless you configure it. So:

Winamp: Preferences (control-P) | plugins | input | Nullsoft Mpeg Audio Decoder Plugin | Configure | Streaming. A good number to put in the prebuffer is like 50k. If you start getting dropouts, increase your prebuffer.

RealPlayer: View | Preferences | Connection | Check "Buffer At Least" and put in 5 seconds. If you start getting dropouts, increase this number.

MacAmp: Not sure, never used the program. If someone has the prog, please email me instructions.

I can hear the audio, but it keeps breaking up.

You need to increase the prebuffer. See the topic above for help on that. If that doesn't work you might be on too slow a connection. One thing you might try is getting rid of the video by clicking "Manual Refresh Mode" under the picture. But I don't think the "Refresh Now" button works well, since most browsers seem to cache the image. But let me know you're having the problem, and we might be able to shrink our bandwidth some.

The video isn't updating....

Are you sure we're live? If we're not live the video won't update. You can usually tell we're live by the fact that a) our video updates, b) there's audio, and c) the chat will be pretty active. But if we're live and the video isn't updating, we might be having some problems, or, make sure to press the "Auto Refresh Mode" button under the video. If that doesn't work, do you have Java turned off in your browser? Our live video uses a Java Applet, so you need to enable Java in your preferences.

The chat isn't updating....

Press "Auto Refresh Mode" above the chatroom.

The chat is updating but I have to scroll to the bottom of the page every time....

That means you're using Internet Explorer. Use Netscape and that won't happen.

How do I find out when you're broadcasting?

The best way is to join The Mighty Wrybread Email List. You won't get spammed, and the list is used only for announcements. But we're not big on schedules, so that's the best way to do it.
